Corrosion of reinforcement and more crucially degradation by frost affecting the concrete retaining and parapet walls led to a scheme of refurbishment awarded to Ram Services Limited by term contractor Ringway.

All localised areas of cracking and spalling due to rebar corrosion were cut out, prepared and reinstated with cementitious repair mortar.
The existing insitu concrete coping detail was considered to be beyond repair, and was cut from the wall completely using diamond sawing techniques, lifted clear and removed off site. An e specially cast, sectional coping was then constructed, hoisted into position, bedded in place, and secured with resin bonded steel dowels.
