Structural repair and refurbishment specialist Ram Services Limited has completed work to provide chemically resistant linings to a series of chemical storage bund structures on the Lancashire Waste Partnership’s main processing sites at Thornton and Leyland.
Facilities at these two sites will be able to process in excess of 400,000 tonnes of household waste per year, dramatically reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.
At both sites, Ram Services Limited’s teams took possession of the completed bund structures, prepared the exposed concrete using abrasive grit blasting and high pressure water jetting techniques, applied easing fillets of epoxy resin mortar and made good to surface irregularities prior to application of a variety of lining materials.
Specifications for the lining material varied to suit the level of chemical resistance required for each bund structure, but all involved a build up of liquid epoxy resin based components, to create a continuous, seam free finish.
Constant liaison with client W2R (Waste 2 Resources) joint venture’s project management team ensured that work was completed and fully cured ahead of chemical storage tank installation, with weather protection and applied heating being used to ensure conditions on site were fully suitable for application of the coating materials.
