The client was exceptionally pleased with Ram Services Limited’s steadfast desire to successfully and safely deliver the quality of works on a vast remediation scheme.
Problem:
A strategic service reservoir in the North West of England required a major asset refurbishment, both internally and externally, to revive the asset and prolong the design life.
Solution:
- Overburden removal & reinstatement
- External waterproof membrane installed
- Internal overbanding and welding of extremely complicated geometry floor joints
- Installation of a new baffle curtain
- New mechanical work
- New site drainage and CCTV drainage surveys and subsequent clearance, ensuring all site toe drains were free from debris.
- Remedial work to the existing Technocovers
Additional Benefits to the Client:
- Ram Services Limited’s sector leading groundworks team provided recommendations and expert advice to the client’s structural engineering department including:
- assessing the overburden removal process,
- utilising the latest machine technology, and
- programming a suitable scheme to mitigate overloading the reservoir roof.
This resulted in Ram Services Limited undertaking overburden removal with machines weighing less than 1000kg, thereby protecting the structural integrity of the critical structure.
- The works were carried out over two consecutive summer programmes, to benefit from favourable weather conditions which enabled acceleration of the works. The benefit to the asset owner was the asset being returned to service with minimal disruption to supply to the geographical network.
- The waterproof membrane was third party assurance tested, confirming that the membrane was defect free.
- Ram Services Limited’s developed gasket installation method and the latest waterproof technology ensures the critical detail around the Technocovers was thoroughly remediated to further extend the integrity of the asset.
- Ram Services Limited has provided the innovative gasket installation method IP free to the asset owner, thereby permitting other contractors on the framework to use the same method, benefitting the asset owner.
