Crack injection works

Ram Services Limited is instructed to deliver remediation works to both existing and newly construction infrastructure projects across the UK. Recent works have included a large crack injection project within one of the world’s largest newly constructed sewer networks in London.
Problem:

The secondary, slip formed, lining within the tunnel network was exhibiting sporadic cracks throughout.

Solution:

Stage 1: Informing the ultimate client on the repair technique
Working with the joint venture’s delivery team, Ram Services Limited delivered a presentation to the ultimate client’s European engineering team detailing vacuum led crack injection techniques and the process of filling residual >0.2mm cracks within concrete with a low viscosity structural epoxy resin.

Stage 2: Specialist designed movable scaffold to access the tunnel crown
Access to the tunnel linings was via deep shafts in the centre of London, and then specialist designed scaffolds to push along the tunnel shaft, allowing full access to the crown on the tunnel networks.

Stage 3: Successful completion of >4km of cracks filled
Over four kilometres of cracks were filled using a class leading epoxy resin. Use of sacrificial cores confirmed resin migration throughout the full 300mm depth of the secondary lining, demonstrating the full extent of the success of the injection works in accordance with BS EN 1504-5.

Additional Benefits to the Client:
The Ram Services Limited team was highly commended by the client for the detailed knowledge and assistance throughout the complex scheme, and this resulted in other Tier 1 contractors on the scheme engaging Ram Services Limited to undertake further works on the project.
